The Eminence Kids Foundation was launched by Boldijarre Koronczay, Eminence Organics’ president, as an avenue to supplement families fighting childhood illness with the organic nutrition that helped him as a child. The Foundation’s first location opened at the Semmelweis Children’s Clinic in Budapest, Hungary — the very same hospital where Boldijarre was treated for his rare form of childhood leukemia. Each week at this hospital, the pediatric patients receive organic, cold-pressed juice as a meal replacement. Whole foods may be too difficult for the children to digest, so the juice is an essential part of their nutritional intake. Boldijarre and the rest of the Koronczay family visit this clinic several times a year to meet the patients and their families, distribute HANK teddy bears and spread cheer.
During one visit, the Koronczay family was fortunate enough meet a young girl who would later become one of the faces of the Eminence Kids Foundation. This chance meeting occurred on Children’s Day, which is always celebrated on the last Sunday in May in Hungary. As the Koronczays visited with children and families, a particular little girl with big, warm brown eyes, a beautiful pink head scarf and sparkly face paint ran and played with her friends. Her name was Krisztina. That day, Krisztina was sweetly shy, yet lit up like a star for a few photos. She was in the hospital for neuroblastoma, an extremely challenging type of pediatric cancer. Krisztina was under the care of the renowned head nurse and Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, Judit Aranyosi. Judit was an integral supporter of launching Eminence Kids Foundation in Hungary and had consistently nourished Krisztina with our donated organic juices. Everyone in Krisztina’s path knew there was something very special about her sparkle, always shining brightly in spite of her obstacles.
From Hospital Bed to Podium – An Eminence Kids Transformation
We are delighted to see that, over the years, Krisztina’s unique energy and radiance has never dimmed. She made a full recovery from neuroblastoma. And not only is she leading a full, cancer-free life, she has transformed into a competitive athlete, earning a gold medal in the duathlon in Eastern Europe’s Special Olympics.
