Eminence Kids Expands into Austin, Texas with B.I.G Love

November 8, 2016

With humble beginnings as a family-run operation, a long-term goal of the Eminence Kids Foundation has always been to expand our services worldwide. For the past three years, Eminence Kids has provided seriously ill children in Hungary and Canada with access to organic nutrition to assist in their healing and long-lasting health. This year, we are thrilled to announce our first expansion into the United States with a new partner: B.I.G. Love Cancer Care.

B.I.G. Love Cancer Care is a non-profit, volunteer-based organization in Austin, Texas. Established in February 2007, B.I.G. Love Cancer Care’s mission is to ease the childhood cancer journey by providing families at the Dell Children’s Blood and Cancer Center with new diagnosis gift bags, parking passes, catered meals and – with the help of Eminence Kids – organic nutrition. The organization currently provides groceries to over 100 people every day – equal to meals for over 30,000 families each year!

Organic Food Donations

Since September, the Eminence Kids Foundation has worked closely with B.I.G. Love Cancer Care to donate weekly organic fruit deliveries to families in Austin. Each week, we donate 20 pounds of organic apples, oranges, blueberries, strawberries, grapes and bananas. These deliveries give children at the Dell Children’s Blood and Cancer Center access to organic, locally sourced and nutrient-rich foods to assist in their recovery.

In addition to donating organic fruit, the Eminence Kids Foundation also strives to educate children about the importance of organic nutrition. We believe that what you put in your body has a direct impact on your overall health, well-being and quality of life. We provide fun, kid-friendly infographics to teach children and their families about the health benefits of the particular organic fruits they are receiving. It is our hope that this will help them to make smart nutritional choices for the rest of their lives.

Making a Difference

We are grateful to have been welcomed into Austin with open arms and are touched by the impact we have made so far. One family noted that they are “trying to eat more organic produce, but have not because it’s so expensive.” Our donations give them access to the organic nutrition they know is necessary to fuel a strong recovery.

The board-certified, oncology dietitian on staff at the care facility shared: “It’s always a good day for the families when they find out they can take some of the organic fruit home. Almost every Mom comments about how she has been thinking about trying to get more organic fruit into her child’s diet.” With staff and families aware of the importance of organic produce, we’re able to help more children receive the nutrition and education to support their recovery and ongoing health.

We look forward to continuing to expand the Eminence Kids Foundation worldwide, to ensure every sick child receives the benefits of organic nutrition. Follow our journey on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
