At the Eminence Kids Foundation, we are grateful for the partners who help spread our message of education and inspiration. Shannon Chappelle – owner of Spa Chappelle in Nova Scotia – is one such partner. Her passion for the transformative power of healthy living resonates with our own mission to support the well-being of sick children around the world.
We were delighted to interview Shannon about her journey with Eminence Organics and the Eminence Kids Foundation. Here is what she had to say about her experience.
Q+A With Shannon From Spa Chappelle
Tell us about your spa industry journey.
I’ve been an esthetician since 1995 and my deep passion for the industry comes from what it has done for me. I owe so much to the spa industry … it’s a beauty and healing industry. I had really bad acne as a kid and again in my twenties, and when I started detoxifying, my skin completely changed. I wanted the whole world to know. I am here on this planet to be a skin transformer.
I have three beautiful kids and an amazing husband – and I have two businesses. As much as I say it’s full, rich and beautiful, I can get hooked on “fast” too. Our vision [at Spa Chappelle] is to extend the invitation to slow down: An hour facial with me can be transformative and take you off that hook. When I am in my place of balance, peace, harmony and joy, my expression is beautiful and that’s where I want to be.
In one word, describe yourself.
Passionate. Like a soul on fire.
When did you first hear about the Eminence Kids Foundation?
I’ve been with Eminence Organics for twelve years. The biggest impact for me was at ISPA when [Eminence Kids Foundation Founder] Boldijarre Koronczay received the Visionary of the Year Award. That always stayed with me. It was really inspiring and I remember thinking: I wish everyone on my team was here to see this.
What about the Eminence Kids Foundation inspired you to donate?
Personal reasons in the sense of being a huge advocate for kids eating healthy. I think that food is either our medicine or our poison, and I am very passionate about what my kids consume.
My heart goes out to these kids. I’m passionate about food and I wish every hospital on this planet had this program. We’ve all had our hospital stays and we know the difference of fresh, vibrational energy from these foods that are there to heal kids. I am more than happy to support [the Eminence Kids Foundation].
What’s the best thing or proudest moment that’s happened to you since you became involved with philanthropy through your spa business?
Giving has such an impact. It involves our community and has educated us on what the Eminence Kids Foundation does. We’ve been able to educate our community on living a better life.
What’s your favorite Eminence Organic Skin Care product?
That’s a hard pick because I have a lot! I always come back to the Blueberry Soy Exfoliating Cleanser.
What might someone be surprised to know about you?
I read every morning for 30 minutes and always have a few books on the go. I think we need to “read to lead.” Right now, I’m reading “Wisdom of Sundays,” “The Woman Code” and “GirlBoss.”
What are your hopes for the future of the Eminence Kids Foundation?
I wish for every hospital on the planet to have it! My deep gratitude goes to Eminence Organics for partnering with us. I am so grateful for everything they are doing and that we can be a part of it. It really adds to Spa Chappelle’s values.
With the help of partners like Shannon and Spa Chappelle, we have served over 60,000 organic meals to sick children undergoing treatment. How do you support your community?
