For four years, the Eminence Kids Foundation has been proud to prepare and serve an organic meal to children undergoing treatment at the British Columbia Children’s Hospital and their families. This meaningful two night event brings together dozens of volunteers from the Eminence Organics head office in Vancouver, Canada and provides a fun night off for these hardworking families.
The Prep Night
Hosted by the Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts, our volunteers first learned proper techniques for slicing, dicing and mixing from an experienced professional chef. Using local and organic ingredients, volunteers then prepared gluten free Minestrone Soup, Curried Sweet Potato & Lentil Soup and Turkey Chili. The 150L (approximately 619 servings!) of fresh soup were then packaged for the next evening’s dinner and for future meals for the families.
The Dinner Night
The next night, additional volunteers hosted a “Family Dinner Night” at a long-term care facility in Vancouver, alongside volunteers from Diabetes Canada. Joining forces, the Eminence Kids Foundation provided the three varieties of organic soup freshly prepared the day prior and organic bread, with Diabetes Canada bringing in a hearty salad trio and homemade black bean brownies for dessert. Over 30 families were able to enjoy a home cooked meal, play and connect with the community.
