The Eminence Kids Foundation believes that providing organic, locally sourced and nutrient-rich food for seriously ill children is an essential part of their treatment. We also love to encourage volunteering in your community to support these children and their families. Some of our favorite ways to volunteer can be found on our Three Ways To Give page. Learn more about why we love these opportunities below:
Volunteer At A Long Term Care Facility
Long term care facilities are critical resources to support seriously ill children. Long term care provides support for children when “families’ current circumstances no longer allow them to be cared for in the home or other community setting” (Children’s Specialized Hospital). Located in many Children’s or General hospitals, long term care facilities often depend on volunteers to support regular staff (BC Children’s Hospital). Volunteer opportunities at long term care facilities provide emotional support to the children and families and is deeply inspiring.
Volunteer On An Organic Farm
If you have an interest in learning about organic farming and getting outside, you may be surprised at the number of organic farms in need of volunteers. Many organic farms grow produce specifically to donate to local causes and depend on volunteers to help on the farm (The Sharing Farm). Not only will you be able to learn more about sustainable farming but you will feel good knowing the nutrient-rich food grown supports children in need (Teter Farm). Volunteer opportunities typically include helping plant, harvest and prepare the produce, allowing you to be fully immersed in the experience.
Volunteer With A Children’s Support Group
Children’s support groups are often the first place families turn to when children are diagnosed. Volunteer opportunities with support groups are essential to to help families understand and cope during an extremely difficult time. There are a wide array of support groups providing a large variety of volunteer opportunities. Larger organizations may offer everything from administrative to fundraising volunteer opportunities (Cancer Support Community). Other organizations often need assistance at events, providing child care or helping families in the home (Kids With Cancer Society).
The Eminence Kids Foundation hopes you consider these options that provide, educate and inspire children in your community. Eminence Organic Skin Care is committed to giving back to the community and those in need through charitable contributions and strongly believes in the power of volunteering.
