Why Organic Matters

At the Eminence Kids Foundation, we believe that a diet rich in organically grown fruits and vegetables is essential to healing, wellness and long-lasting health. Based on the personal experience of our founder and his family, the power of nature and a diet full of whole, clean foods is essential to allow the body to recover from illness.

Healthy Recipes

Working hand-in-hand with award-winning chefs to create recipes of organic, locally-sourced, balanced and nutritious soups and smoothies (that kids will love!) is a thoughtful process for everyone at the Foundation. Our Vegetarian Borscht was a surprise to many families… who knew you could have pink soup?

All About Antioxidants

Antioxidants are the “cell super heroes” who keep us healthy by fighting free radicals that may cause damage to our healthy cells. A study conducted by the Organic Center for Education and Promotion found that organically grown plants contain up to 30% more antioxidants which help maintain your health, naturally. As a rule of thumb, look for fruits and vegetables that are rich and deep in color such as blueberries, blackberries and broccoli (little trees!). The darker the color, the more antioxidants!

Whole Fruits & Vegetables

Not all foods are created equal! Natural, organic whole fruits and vegetables are full of nutrition. A study published through the Soil and Health Organization states that organic crops contain 56% more nutrients and up to 47% more Vitamin C than conventionally grown crops. By providing whole apples, berries, peaches and other seasonal produce to our partner locations, kids are able to eat and digest the purest form of food from nature.

Cold-Pressed Juices

We believe that creating juice through a cold-press process retains the best nutritional value. This process starts with gently breaking down the whole fruits and vegetables into fibers, then slowly pressing the fibers into juice, without using heat that could destroy helpful fruit enzymes in the juicing process. “The juice that Eminence donates is perfect because during chemotherapy, [my daughter] can’t digest whole fruit. This juice is much needed,” says Anna, a mother of one of our Eminence Kids.

Comforting Soup

Working hand-in-hand with award-winning chefs to create recipes using locally-sourced, fresh organic ingredients, the Eminence Kids team visits commercial kitchens to cook a healthy variety of soups for Eminence Kids and their families to enjoy. Providing a soup bursting with vegetables and a variety of proteins helps our families with a convenient, balanced meal so they can focus on spending time together, resting and healing.
